The design of the Audi Q4 is almost finalized. The debut of this brand new crossover coupe, that challenges to the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque and the BMW X2, is due in 2019.
Audi chief designer Andreas Mindt has confirmed that the work on the Audi Q4 styling has been completed. At the same time, he stresses that this is something more than a coupe version of the Audi Q3.
Apparently, for creating the Q4 design the Germans drew inspiration from the Audi TT Offroad concept’s exterior (pictured above), presented back in 2014. According to Autocar, it will be 110 mm longer and probably lower than the new Audi Q3.
The newcomer will join the sports SUV lineup of the German brand. Its founder was a full-sized Audi Q8, which caused a lot of feedback and emotions. It also includes the future Audi Q6 all-electric crossover.
Apart from the Range Rover Evoque and BMW X2, the Mercedes-Benz GLA will be the rival for the Audi Q4, especially after the change of generations of the latter.
It’s too early to talk about the Q4’s cost. The prices are expected to start from $30,000.
The premiere of the new Audi cross-coupe is scheduled for next year. In 2019, the first vehicles should get to dealers.
