Audi sales volumes have decreased by almost 13% in April 2019. Reduction is also observed in the first 4 months of the current year. The automaker believes the situation will normalize when the new Q3 and A3 enter the global market.
Over the past months, Audi delivered a little more than 140,000 cars to customers, 12.8% less than in April 2018. Sales from the beginning of 2019 are also less than last year: 588 against 625 thousand units. The drop in demand for Audi is noted in almost all regions.
Audi sold 15,000 cars (-21.4%) in the United States in April. The new Audi Q3 is being expected here, the luxury market segment itself has sunk. However, customers tried out the Audi A7, which gained the World Luxury Car 2019 title at the New York Auto Show this year, moving the Audi A8 from the pedestal.
Audi sales in April declined in China too. Sales amounted to more than 46,000 units (-11.5%) here. As in the USA, the Audi Q3 is not still on sale in this country. The crossover was just presented at the Auto Shanghai.
In Europe, demand for Audi also fell by 7.8%. In April, more than 72,000 men became owners of Audis.
Martin Sander, Audi AG’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales, recognizes that updating the brand’s product range requires serious effort. However, the European success of the second-generation Audi Q3 inspires optimism. Premieres of the updated Audi A4 and the all-new Audi A3 Sportback are around the corner.
