BMW starts production of the 2020 BMW 840i for the US car market. This is an entry-level model in the 8 Series lineup. Deliveries to dealers begin in early fall. The price is from $88,895 including $995 destination and handling charges.
The new BMW 840i will soon be available for purchase in America joining the 4-door Gran Coupe version. The pricing has been announced. Customers can choose between 2-door coupe and convertible variants, rear and all-wheel drive.
The cheapest price will be $88,895 for an 840i coupe with rear wheel drive. An all-wheel-drive modification will cost $98,395. For comparison: previously the cheapest BMW 8 Series model on sale in North America was the M850i xDrive Coupe (from $112,895).
The BMW 840i Convertible will cost $98,395 (RWD) and $101,295 (AWD).
A 3.0-liter inline-six turbo motor powers the 2020 BMW 840i. It delivers 335 hp and 368 lb-ft / 500 Nm of torque.
The rear-wheel-drive coupe accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds, the all-wheel-drive coupe – in 4.6 sec, the convertible RWD – in 5.2 sec, the convertible AWD – 4.8 sec.
The electronically limited top speed is 155 mph (250 km/h) for cars with sports tires. With all-season tires the limiter is activated at 130 mph (209 km/h).
The gearbox is automatic, of course.
Many modern features are available for the new BMW 840i as standard, including adaptive LED headlights, sports seats, heated steering wheel, wireless charging, Wi-Fi hotspot, soft-close doors, a HUD, a rear-view camera, keyless entry, a Harman Kardon sound system, dynamic damper control and others.
The 18-inch wheels are standard for all versions. M Sport Package is offered at extra pay. An M Sport differential comes with rear-wheel-drive cars. The xDrive models received four-wheel steering.
The automaker puts the BMW 840i into production this months. Sales will start in September 2019.
