Alpina Introduces its First BMW X7-Based SAV for the U.S. Market

The Alpina BMW XB7 sport utility vehicle (SAV) designed for America has been introduced.

It will join the B7 Sedan in Alpina’s U.S. lineup in the fall of 2020.

Appearance

Three rows of seats accommodate 6-7 occupants. The exterior design makes emphasizes on power and presence. The company reduced aerodynamic lift for maximum high-speed stability.

The luggage compartment provides from 48.6 to 90.4 cubic feet depending on configuration. For comfortable loading, the SAV can be lowered by up to 2 inches.

The car’s cabin is finished with high-end materials – leather, wood. The Alpina Myrtle Luxury Wood interior trim is base. There are two optional variants of the trim – Piano Lacquer and all-new Natural Walnut Anthracite.

The Alpina sport steering wheel is hand-finished in the finest Lavalina leather.

The XB7 offers an extensive range of base equipment including a full-color Alpina-designed 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a Panorama Sky Lounge LED Roof, a iDrive Controller in crystal glass with laser-etched logo.

Powertrain

The model gets power from a gasoline direct injection bi-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine that delivers 612 hp at 5,500 – 6,600 rpm and a max. torque of 590 lb-ft.

0-60 mph acceleration takes 4.0 seconds, and just 12.6 sec. during the quarter-mile sprint.

The top speed is limited to 180 mph with standard 21-inch Alpina Dynamic wheels and performance tires. All-new 23-inch forged-alloy wheels are optional.

The powertrain includes the latest-gen 8-speed sport automatic transmission with Alpina switch-tronic wheel-mounted shift buttons, and the BMW intelligent xDrive system with Alpina adaptations.  

Techical Tweaks

The car features an all-new, stainless-steel Alpina sport exhaust system and an electronically-variable active limited slip differential with a locking torque of up to 1475 lb-ft.

There are Sport and Sport+, Comfort and Comfort+ drive modes.  

The 2021 Alpina BMW XB7 comes standard with a two-axle air suspension with the brand-specific damper and kinematic setup, the Integral Active Steering, Brembo brake calipers.

The BMW Driving Assistant Professional Package is standard for this vehicle. It offers a wide range of high-degree active safety systems and innovative assistance functions.
