A high-performance spin-off of the BMW 8-Series from Alpina will be unveiled next Wednesday.
The car will likely start off as a BMW M850i and undergo a few hardware upgrades, including engine and chassis (suspension) tweaks. A 4.4-liter V8 with around 600 hp will power the car. Expect traditional multi-spoke wheels, interior comfort enhancements.
It’s logical to assume that the Alpina B8 Gran Coupe will be followed by a coupe and a convertible in the course of this year. The Alpina B8 family will be present in Europe. A launch on the U.S market is possible too: spies have already seen prototypes with characteristic orange stripes.
For now, the latest Alpina for the American market is the 2021 XB7 Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) based on the BMW X7. The model joined the B7 Sedan in Alpina’s U.S. lineup in the fall of 2020.
Under the hood of the Alpina XB7 (pictured), there is the familiar potent 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 delivering 612 hp from 5,500-6,600 rpm, and a max torque of 590 lb-ft from 2000-5000 rpm all the way.
