The new 8th generation of the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300 SL super-light sports car is undergoing test driving.
From now all versions of this roadster will be available exclusively under the Mercedes-AMG name. The latest trials are made by Mercedes-AMG engineers on a special, closed-off proving ground in snowy Sweden. They are testing how the car’s systems and parts will behave in harsh, wintry conditions.
A finally tuned fully variable all-wheel drive system 4MATIC+ is being tested (first offered on the SL), for instance, as well as a redesigned fabric roof.
Soon the car’s handling dynamics will be undergoing final refinement at the Nürburgring race track.
The first public appearance of the 300 SL racing sports car took place in1952. When the manufacturer announced the model in March of that year, it was a real global sensation.
The all-new Mercedes-AMG SL will make its debut later this year. Meantime, let’s take a look at the photos from Sweden.
