The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has earned the highest safety rating of TOP SAFETY PICK+ (TSP+) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Thus, the popular crossover has joined other models of Hyundai Motor with TSP+ designation, such as the Hyundai Palisade and Nexo, as well as the Genesis G70, G80, G90, GV80.
To award this higher rating of the Institute’s two awards, vehicles must get good marks in six IIHS crashworthiness evaluations, have advanced or superior ratings in evaluations of a front crash prevention system, and good or acceptable standard headlights.
IIHS recognized the 2022 Hyundai Tucson’s structural crashworthiness, LED headlights, standard SmartSense crash prevention features. The model comes with two different front crash prevention systems – one standard and one optional. Both earned superior ratings in the vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-pedestrian evaluations.
Tucson is a key model of the brand. So, its awards and ratings are important for Hyundai. The model is the best-seller in the USA, Hyundai’s No.1 vehicle in terms of sales.
In the second quarter of 2021, the automaker sold 50,370 units in America. The second is the Elantra (47,964 units), and the third is the Santa Fe (34,540 units).
