The world premiere of the 2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale took place on February 8, 2022. Retaining the recognizable Italian design, the model demonstrates a radical evolution of the brand.
Yesterday’s global reveal of the all-new Alfa Romeo Tonale is a significant event for Stellantis. The newcomer signifies the transition of Alfa Romeo to the era of connectivity and electrification.
Technologies
The Tonale is available with two variants of powertrains, PHEV Q4 AWD and Q4 AWD, and in three versions – Sprint, Ti, and Veloce.
The plug-in hybrid vehicle is equipped with a 1.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, a 90-kW electric motor, a 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The total output is 272 hp; the electric range exceeds 30 miles (48 km).

The Q4 AWD model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-four mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The unit produces 256 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. The car uses the engine stop-start technology to meet the SULEV 30 emissions standard (super-ultra-low).
The Alfa Romeo Tonale comes with an exclusive NFT (non-fungible token) digital certificate, which is based on blockchain technology and uniquely linked.
The vehicle has Alexa home-to-car and car-to-home functionality and the standard Uconnect 5 system providing a global services delivery platform. In the cabin, you’ll find an innovative 10.25-inch center touchscreen and a 12.3-inch instrument cluster.

The available driver assistance technologies include Level 2 autonomy, Adaptive Cruise Control, Intelligent Speed Assist, Rear Cross Path Detection, Driver Attention Assist, and Rear Seat Reminder.
In addition, the new Alfa Romeo Tonale comes with a frequency selective damping suspension.
Availability
Orders open in the fourth quarter of this year, while the model will be available to North American purchasers in the first quarter of next year when it begins arriving in dealer showrooms.
