Acura ZDX Return as a Fully Electric SUV in 2024

Today the carmaker has announced its first all-new fully electric SUV – the Acura ZDX.

The Acura ZDX EV will enter the market in 2024, along with a hotter ZDX Type S version. Though the name is old, the design is new, and its styling themes are represented by the Acura Precision EV Concept.

Acura created the ZDX in cooperation with General Motors, with its styling developed in the Acura Design Studio. The vehicle rides on GM’s Ultium platform and uses Ultium batteries.

Starting from 2026, Acura will be launching electric models on its own global e:Architecture.

Original Acura ZDX

The original Acura ZDX – one of the priciest and most luxurious cars of the brand – was first introduced at the 2009 New York International Auto Show. It went on sale in 2010 and was discontinued in 2013 as a slow seller.

Acura created that model for the North American market as a rival to the BMW X6, though the ZDX could also find its way to some other markets (Arabian, Eastern Europe). The car came with an aluminum 3.7-liter 300-hp V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and AWD.

Today the 2013 Acura ZDX priced between $23,115 – 23,115 is still a decent option if you seek a used 2-row luxury midsize SUV, albeit there are more practical options in this class.

The vehicle is fun-to-drive due to its balanced ride and handling, stylish inside and out, and packed with a lot of standard safety and convenience features.

It has an elegant cabin with great material quality and minimal noise at cruising speeds, but subpar cargo and rear-seat room and poor rear visibility.
