Acura TLX Type S Arrives at Dealers Late May, Starts in the Low $50,000s

Yesterday Acura announced the on-sale timing for the 2021 TLX Type S – a hot version of the 2nd-generation TLX.

The award-winning 2021 Acura TLX has been on sale since September 2020 (from $38,525 to $49,325, incl. destination). Acura says the TLX Type S will be arriving at showrooms in late spring, with the base price just over $50,000.

The Type S modification debuts a new powerful 3.0-liter turbo-six engine with 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque, Brembo brakes, a double-wishbone front suspension, Type S-exclusive Sport+ driving mode.

It comes with the brand’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system with true torque vectoring, for the first time for a Type S model.

Six exterior and three interior color choices are available. An all-new Tiger Eye Pearl paint and Orchid leather interior are exclusive to the Type S.

The model-specific exterior features include an open-surface diamond pentagon grille, large quad outlets of the exhaust system, two-wheel options including a lightweight one with Pirelli tires.

Inside, there are adjustable 16-way power seats trimmed in Ultrasuede, with Type S embossing. The TLX Advance Package is available. Among other things, it offers a 17-speaker ELS Studio 3D premium audio system.
