The automaker has started mass production of its new 2022 Acura MDX Type S. The first vehicles will be arriving at U.S. dealerships soon.

The 2022 Acura MDX Type S has gone into production. The manufacturer makes the crossover exclusively at the factory in East Liberty, Central Ohio. A 3.0-liter 355-horsepower Turbo V6 engine that powers the MDX Type S is produced at Acura’s modern engine facility in Anna, Ohio.

By today, Acura has unveiled three Type S models. They are high-performance versions of the TLX (first), MDX (second) and NSX (third). The MDX, by the way, is Acura’s first SUV model to wear the Type S badge. Acura is proud of the MDX Type S and says it is the brand’s best handling, most powerful and lavishly equipped SUV ever, fully developed in the USA.

The 2021 TLX Type S was launched this June, the 2022 MDX Type S has just been put into production. As for the 2022 NSX Type S, Acura will begin building this limited-run 600-hp car at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio in early 2022.

The Acura MDX Type S features Brembo front brakes, 21-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, optional 9-way massaging front seats, a new ELS STUDIO 3D Signature Edition audio system. The latter comes with 25 speakers and delivers 1000 watts into the cabin.

The paternal model – the 2022 Acura MDX flagship – is already on sale. The starting retail price before charges, fees, taxes, license is $47,200 (FWD) and $49,200 (SH-AWD). The engine is a 290-hp six-cylinder one. The MDX Type S starts at $66,700, Type S Advance is $72,050.
