I really like the latest Peugeot 408. To be honest, I’m not a fan of cars that sit somewhere between segments. Is it a crossover or a passenger car? It’s hard to tell. But the 408 is an exception.
What appeals to me is its shape, the body design, its aesthetics, and that sense of confident elegance.
The 215-horsepower four-cylinder engine is another highlight. Years ago, I owned a Peugeot 308 powered by an earlier version of this 1.6-liter engine family, so it’s especially interesting for me to see how it has evolved over the years.
To me, 215 horsepower is exactly what a car like this needs. It’s not squeezing every last bit of power out of a three-cylinder engine, nor is it trying to be a 350-horsepower sports car. In my view, it strikes the perfect balance between adequate performance, fuel efficiency, and overall expediency.
