Ford discontinues the Fusion Sport and won’t launch a 2020 model. The automaker wants to optimize its offerings for the US car market.
Ford’s spokesman explained that the change in the model range would allow the brand to focus on more popular segments.
Today Ford is inclined to develop sports crossovers. The Edge, for example, has a hot ST version. A larger Ford Explorer will get a performance modification this summer.
At the same time the Fiesta ST, Focus ST, Focus RS were discontinued in 2018. Ford is finalizing to sell the 365-hp Taurus SHO, and now the Fusion is leaving.
The Fusion Sport is a hot version of the model, equipped with a 2.7-liter 325-hp EcoBoost V6 engine (380 lb-ft of torque) combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Last year, Ford stopped advertising its cars in the United States. Prior to this, the company announced that it would remove the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion and the Taurus passenger cars from its US portfolio. Of course, the Ford Mustang will remain.
Thus, the brand will focus entirely on crossovers / SUVs and pickup trucks in the USA.
