The new-generation Volkswagen Passat will arrive in 2023. The model will be unlikely offered as a sedan, but it comes in a wagon body style and can even morph into a hatchback.
Volkswagen wants to make the next Passat roomier, more practical, and versatile. At the same time, the model will retain its MQB platform.
To give rear passengers more legroom, the automaker will probably stretch the wheelbase to 2.85 m. Extra length can also allow improving a trunk space and entering a new niche. Meaning the most practical cars which are non-SUVs or commercial vehicles.
it is noteworthy that Volkswagen does not intend to abandon diesel engines for its 2023 Passat (2.0TDI from 148 to 197 hp), as well as a 4MOTION all-wheel-drive option.
Expect that improved plug-in hybrid offerings based on a duet of gasoline and electric power – a 200-hp entry-level e-Hybrid and a 242-hp GTE model – will be also available, at least for Europe.
We should not expect an-all electric Passat: instead, Volkswagen prepares the ID. Space Vizzion for this segment.
