The 2023 Mazda CX-50 lineup has received a mid-year price increase of $750 and a $2,800 Meridian Edition package.
The 2023 Mazda CX-50 crossover is now available to order with the Meridian Edition package that offers off-road accessories and special graphics.
Subject to the slight price increase, the base model now costs $28,825, while the CX-50 Meridian Edition runs $41,225, including a $1,275 destination and handling charge.
Meridian Edition Details
Every Meridian Edition vehicle comes with Mazda’s i-Activ AWD and Mi-Drive systems, and a 2.5L turbo-four engine with 256 hp and 320 lb-ft on 93 octane fuel, or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft on 87 octane fuel.
This package is available in Polymetal Gray or Zircon Sand exterior colors and a single Terracotta leather interior option with black contrasting accents.
The distinctive features are black 18-inch wheels in all-terrain Falken tires, black wheel lock and lug nuts, a matte black hood, new side rocker panels, and a different headlight surround.
A $1,235 upgrade over the Meridian Edition is the Apex Package offering front and rear splash guards, roof-mounted black crossbars, and a roof platform.
Non-Meridian Edition vehicles can get the Meridian Choice Package. This is a $1,899 bundle of dealer-installed accessories from the Meridian Edition and Apex Package lists.
Should I Buy a 2023 Mazda CX-50?
Yes, if you want an upscale sporty crossover with outdoorsy nature. It is equally nice on city streets and at campsites or trailheads, but if you need a full-fledged off-road SUV, you’d better choose another vehicle.
Still, the Mazda model faces strong competition from the Subaru Forester, the Toyota RAV4, or the Ford Bronco Sport. These rivals pack more luggage than the CX-50 whose cargo space is below average. We must admit the CX-50 is not the smoothest-riding and roomiest SUV in its class.
Nevertheless, the vehicle has many other advantages: a finely trimmed cabin, cozy seats, generous lists of standard tech and safety features, zippy engine performance, athletic handling, respectable towing capacity and fuel efficiency.
