The all-new Kia Niro will make its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show taking place for the public on April 15-24, 2022.
On April 13, Wednesday, at 10:10 a.m ET, the 2023 Kia Niro will be on the brand’s display stand. at the NY Auto Show 2022. The premiere will be also streamed live at Kia.com and across social channels of Kia America. The company debuts a hybrid, a fully electric Niro, and a plug-in hybrid.
The new Niro has a number of design features first seen on the HabaNiro concept, such as a unique aerodynamic panel along the C-pillar, high-mounted taillights, and a striking design of LED headlights. Customers will have a choice of 8 exterior paints, 6 contrasting colors for the C-pillar, and 3 trims for body cladding.
The vehicle is larger, 2.5-inch longer, and wider than the predecessor. It has a slightly longer wheelbase and offers more space for passengers and cargo. The interior comes with a 10.3-inch touchscreen, a digital gauge cluster, and a rotary shift knob.
Sometime in 2022, the Kia Niro hybrid will go on sale, joined later by the EV and PHEV. The hybrid has the same 139-hp powertrain as before, namely a 1.6L inline-4 with an electric motor and a 6-speed DCT. Again the model will be front-wheel-drive only.
Expect the all-electric and plug-in hybrid versions to use more powerful electric motors and bigger batteries. Their exterior may also have minor differences.
