The all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R is the most powerful vehicle in the 30-year history of this particular model. Honda unveiled it yesterday.
One of the most anticipated premieres has happened: the 2023 Honda Civic Type R based on the 11th-generation Civic hatchback with a new highly rigid and lightweight body is here. It is lower, longer, wider, and more muscular than before.
The automaker revealed some technologies, interior, and exterior (they are up-to-date and attractive), but left the most delicious information – about performance (horsepower, torque, acceleration figures) – for later.

However, Honda has not failed to report that this new Type R is the most powerful-ever and fastest version of the popular model.
Under the hood, there is the brand’s famous 2.0-liter turbo-four engine paired to an improved six-speed manual gearbox with automatic rev-matching.

Also, Honda tuned the suspension and steering for the Nürburgring track to make them more precise and responsive.
Honda offers the 2023 Civic Type R in 5 color options: exclusive Historic Championship White, Sonic Gray Pearl, Rallye Red, Crystal Black Pearl, and Boost Blue.
The interior features performance-focused emotive details: red seats/trim/carpet, a serialized Type R plate of the dash, and suede-like upholstery with a high friction coefficient.

Key Features:
- An +R driving mode exclusive meter to obtain necessary info instantly
- A lower multi-information display to show car information the driver selects
- Honda LogR data logger to provide real-time data on the mechanical movements and behavior of the vehicle
- A stopwatch to record lap times
- Ability to share driving videos.
The launch of the 2023 Honda Civic Type R on the market is scheduled for the fall of 2022. The pricing and tech specs will be provided closer to the on-sale time.
Honda Civic Type R and Rivals
Today’s Honda Civic Type R offers a midway between high-performance hatchbacks like the Audi RS3 and entry-level hot hatchbacks like the Volkswagen Golf GTI. In the current market, the Type R is one of the performance cars with the most aggressive styling.
There is a decent choice of alternatives that we can consider to be competitors to the Honda Civic Type R, one way or another.
They are VW Gold R, BMW M2, Subaru WRX STI, BMW Z4, Toyota Supra, Mercedes-AMG A35 4Matic, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, Mazda MX-5 Miata, Dodge Challenger, Ford Mustang, Subaru BRZ, and even Chevrolet Camaro or Nissan 370Z.
