America meets the hottest Honda vehicle that has ever landed on its shores: the 2023 Honda Civic Type R. Sales begin this fall. Expect the pricing.
The all-new 2023 Honda Civic Type R debuted in July, and now it is one step away from the market launch. This fall, the first production vehicles will be arriving at retailers.
The model is developed and built in Japan, but its engine originates from Honda’s engine plant in Ohio. Before offering a production version to customers, Honda tested the hot hatchback on tracks around the world.
Not so long ago, the 2023 Civic Type R even set a new track record for a front-wheel-drive car at the Suzuka Circuit – a famous race track in Japan that hosts numerous top-level races including the Formula One Grand Prix.
Generally, we can say that in the new Honda Civic Type R the basic characteristics, such as rigidity, driving feel, aerodynamics, stability, ride, suspension, steering, performance, braking, geometrical parameters, and others have been improved: refined, reinforced, enhanced, increased and intensified.
In particular, the wheelbase is now the longest in the class as it measures considerable 107.7 inches.
Engine
It is an upgraded version of Honda’s award-winning K20C1 with a displacement of 2.0 liters, 4 cylinders, 315 horsepower at 6,500 rpm, and 310 pound-feet of torque at 2,600 – 4,000 rpm: 9 hp and 15 lb-ft more than before. The engine pairs an improved six-speed manual transmission.
The active exhaust valve now opens at higher rpm. A standard helical-type limited-slip differential effectively puts the engine’s power to the pavement.
Who Is This Car For?
Who is the potential owner of the new Honda Civic Type R? – A young or aspiring to be, energetic, adventurous male or female speed lover, rather a single urban dweller than a married suburban or countryside resident.
Although there may be exceptions like a crazy farmer or a grandpa-racer…
