2023 GMC Canyon Reveals New Powertrain and Off-Road AT4X Variant

General Motors has introduced the next-generation GMC Canyon including a new AT4X off-road capable trim level.

The 2023 GMC Canyon has thrown off its covers. The official unveiling happened yesterday: the public could see the first-ever GMC Canyon AT4X Edition 1 Package that features serious off-road hardware, powerful capability, and an advanced high-tech cockpit.

Exterior

Unlike the predecessor, the 2023 Canyon is wider, taller, comprehensively redesigned, comes without a front air dam, and with LED lighting. The manufacturer has improved the vehicle’s approach, departure, and breakover angles.

Interior

The cabin highlights an 8-inch digital instrument cluster as standard or an optional 11-inch one.

Other useful features include a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto, and the Google Built-in service. A standard Pro Safety Package and a more well-rounded Safety Plus Package are available as well.

Powertrain

A 2.7-liter four-cylinder I4 L3B gasoline engine is a base one offering one tune variant on the Canyon, unlike the Colorado sibling: Turbo High Output rated at 310 hp and 430 lb.-ft. of torque and mated either to a two- or all-wheel-drive system, depending on trim level.

When the Edition 1 Package is added, the truck becomes even more off-road capable. This package includes specific badging, 17-inch Beadlock capable wheels, a performance front skid plate, a winch, a safari bar on an off-road bumper, a reconfigurable bed rail system, and underbody cameras.
