2022 Toyota Corolla Cross Makes U.S. Debut Today

An all-new 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross compact crossover debuts in the USA.

The model is available with front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. Based on the Corolla sedan, it sits on the high-strength TNGA-C platform. A 2.0-liter 169-hp Dynamic Force Engine enables achieving high-quality performance and a comfortable ride.

Toyota offers three trim levels for the model – L, LE, and XLE. Key design cues are a distinctive black grille flanked by LED lighting with black body accents, an integrated rear spoiler, and LED lighting at the back. Wheel options include 17-inch steel on L to 18-inch alloy on XLE.

The cabin resembles that of the sedan and hatchback. It features SofTex-trimmed heated front seats and a 10-way, power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar. Interior highlights include a power moonroof, automatic climate control either single- or dual-zone, standard heating and air conditioning vents for rear-seat passengers.

Storage space can enlarge thanks to the standard 60/40-split folding rear seat. The XLE model has a center armrest with two cupholders. A power liftgate with height adjustability makes access to the cargo area more convenient.

Many accessories expand the capability of the crossover. They include a roof rack with crossbars, an activity mount for carrying items, all-weather floormats.

The Toyota  Corolla Cross is capable of towing up to 1,500 lbs.

Toyota’s clever Dynamic Torque Control system can direct up to 50 percent of power to the rear wheels when it’s needed. This feature helps maintain good fuel economy figures – 32 mpg combined for the FWD model and 30 mpg for the AWD model.

Advanced technologies include a 7-inch Multi-Information Display with a digital instrumentation layout. An 8-inch multimedia touchscreen is available, as well as the Audio Plus multimedia with Remote Connect and a 9-speaker JBL sound system.

Available connectivity features are Amazon Alexa, a standard 3-month SiriusXM All Access trial subscription to more than 300 channels. All grades come standard with both the Toyota Safety Sense suite and Toyota’s signature STAR Safety System.
