The 2022 Toyota Avalon is available for sale now in the USA. A few changes are made for the new model year including the addition of the first-ever XSE Hybrid Nightshade Edition.
The 2022 Toyota Avalon comes in six grades (2 entry-level, 2 mid-level, 2 top), including the XSE Hybrid Nightshade which is a new version for the next model year, the automaker says.
Toyota set the following prices for 2022 (include a Delivery Processing and Handling fee): XLE $37,400, XLE Hybrid $38,375, Limited $43,700, Limited Hybrid $44,675, XSE Hybrid Nightshade $41,725, Turing $44,100.
The non-hybrid models come with a DOHC 3.5-liter V6 engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine uses a variable valve timing-intelligent wide system, produces 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque.
The hybrid Avalon cars come with the advanced Toyota Hybrid System (THS II) that combines the power of a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor. That motor and a second motor charge the hybrid battery pack. The total output is 215 horsepower. The transmission variant is an electronically controlled continuously variable (ECVT) one. EPA rates the fuel economy at 44 miles per gallon (combined).
As in the case with other new Toyotas, the 2022 Avalon offers the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ suite as standard, which adds Lane Tracing Assist and Road Sign Assist to the active safety system. Higher-end models received an Advanced Safety Package, while Toyota’s Rear Seat Reminder is now standard on all grades.
The new Toyota Avalon is currently available at U.S. dealerships nationwide.
