The 2022 Nissan Altima is available to purchase now. The starting net price is $24,550. A new Midnight Edition Package is added.
The Nissan Altima mid-size car has been refreshed for the 2022 model year. It has gone on sale in five grades: S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum. The base S version is front-wheel-drive only, the Platinum comes only with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive. The rest grades are either FWD or AWD.
Like many modern Nissans, the sedan is available with ProPILOT Assist, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Nissan Safety Shield 360 including the Intelligent Forward Collision Warning.
The standard engine, offered for all trim levels, is a 2.5-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder direct-injection one delivering 188 horsepower.
The Altima SR also comes with a 2.0-liter, 236-hp, inline four-cylinder VC-Turbo engine and paddle shifters. Both engines are mated to a standard Xtronic transmission.
The 2022 Nissan Altima pricing is as follows: S – $25,525, SV – $26,525, SR – 27,550, SL – $30,965, Platinum – $35,225, SR with 2.0L VC-Turbo – $31,875. SV, SR and SL with AWD are $1,400 more expensive. The prices include a destination and handling fee, but exclude tax and other charges.
A notable change for the 2022MY is the new black-out appearance package called Midnight Edition. Nissan offers it for the Altima SR 2.5L model. It features gloss black details: a grille, a spoiler, 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.
The package also includes heated front seats, black heated outside mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, LED fog lights, 2-way driver power lumbar, a single panel moon roof, a ‘Midnight Edition’ badge in satin black.
The Nissan Altima enjoys a stably moderate demand in the USA. Let’s look at this year’s sales thru September and compare with rivals:
We’d like to recall that the 2022 Nissan Maxima full-size flagship sedan got minor updates for the next model year and goes on sale in the USA. The base price is $38,215.
Under the hood, there is a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 300 horsepower in conjunction with the Xtronic transmission. The 2022 Maxima achieves 25 mpg combined.
In addition, order books have opened in the US for the all-new Nissan Ariya electric SUV. Customers can make reservations now using the Nissan online vehicle configurator and place a $500 refundable deposit.
The Ariya’s AC synchronous motor produces 238 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. The driving range is up to 300 miles.
Nissan will begin to deliver its first e-SUV to customers next fall: first FWD and somewhat later – AWD models.
