Mazda North American Operations has announced updates and prices for the 2022 Mazda 3. The base net price starts at $20,800. The model will reach U.S. dealerships this winter.
Mazda has refreshed the lineup for the 2022 model year. In particular, the updated 2022 Mazda 3 is going on sale in America. Now it is available in Platinum Quartz Metallic with more options for owners.
New for the 2022 model year is the Mazda 3 2.5 S Carbon Edition in a single Polymetal Gray exterior paint and red leather, with black finish 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, gloss black heated door mirrors, a Bose 12-speaker premium audio with aluminum speaker grilles.
This unique version is available as a hatchback or sedan, is powered by a naturally aspirated Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
In general, the 2022 Mazda 3 comes in two body styles (the above-mentioned ones), with three Skyactiv-G engine choices – two naturally aspirated ones and a turbocharged unit, two drivetrains – FWD or AWD, many package options.
The engines offered by the new model are a 2.0-liter one making 155 hp and 150 lb-ft, a 2.5-liter engine producing 186 hp and 186 lb-ft of torque, and a 2.5 Turbo.
The latter delivers 250 hp and 320 lb-ft with premium 93 octane fuel or 227 hp and 310 lb-ft with regular 87 octane fuel. It pairs a 6-speed automatic transmission and standard i-Activ all-wheel drive.
The 2022 Mazda 3 is available in eight trim levels: base 2.0, 2.5 S, 2.5 S Select Package, 2.5 S Preferred Package, 2.5 S Carbon Edition, 2.5 S Premium Package, 2.5 Turbo and 2.5 Turbo Premium Plus.
The base Mazda 3 2.0 is a front-wheel-drive sedan only, while the rest grades are available in both sedan and hatchback bodies. The naturally aspirated models cost from $21,815 to $30,765, the turbo models – from $31,565 to $35,415. This is the pricing before options, taxes, title, fees, including $1,015 for destination and handling.
In terms of sales in 2021, Mazda 3 is the third model of the brand in the USA. 39,826 vehicles were sold there from January to November. The best-selling Mazda, far ahead of others, is the CX-5 (153,521 sales), the CX-30 is the second (50,020 sales).
