Refreshed 2022 Kia Forte Arrives With a Host of Enhancements

The 2022 Kia Forte has been launched. For the next model year, the compact sedan brings new exterior design elements, a new navigation display, and expanded suite of ADAS technology.

The refreshed 2022 Forte arrives with multiple enhancements. It comes in four trim levels now: FE, LXS, GT-Line, GT. The carmaker has discontinued the EX model and added a new GT-Line Sport Premium Package. LXS Technology, GT-Line Technology, and GT Technology packages with a unique combination of safety and driver-assist systems are available as well.

The exterior updates include sleeker headlights, a next-gen grille, revised bumpers, sportier LED taillights, new 16- and 17-inch alloy wheel designs, a new trunk lid spoiler, LED fog lamps integrated into the air-intake grille.

Kia also has modernized the cabin. Key changes include a larger 4.2-inch color TFT LCD cluster for all trims, Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto standard on FE and LXS. A 10.25-inch navigation/infotainment touchscreen with free MapCare updates is standard on GT and GT-Line. Integrated Electronic Parking Brake and Auto Hold, a rear USB charger, remote start for Smart Key, SynTex synthetic leather seating are newly available features.

The new 2022 Kia Forte offers two engines. The first is a 2.0-liter MPI I-4 engine (FE, LXS, GT-Line) delivering 147 hp and 132 pound-feet. It works with an intelligent continuously variable transmission. The unit achieves 41 mpg highway on the base model.

The second is a 1.6-liter GDI turbo-four (on GT) that produces 201 hp and 195 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT or a 6-speed manual transmission. It effectively operates in combinations with dual sport-tuned exhaust and multi-link rear suspension.

For the 2022MY, Kia has enhanced its suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Now there are 6 standard features and 15 systems in total. New ones include standard Lane Following Assist, available Highway Driving Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Navigation Based Smart Cruise Control-Curve and Control-Zone.

The manufacturer continues building the next Kia Forte in Monterrey, Mexico. The current 2021 Kia Forte starts at $17,890 excluding charges, taxes, title, license, options. The new 2022 model will likely be more expensive.

We’d like to add that the sedan is Kia’s number one model in the USA by sales in 2021: 30,867 units were bought in the 3rd quarter, 90,148 cars – within 9 months.
