The new 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 has been introduced with interior and technology updates. First-ever Denali Ultimate and AT4X trims join the lineup.
General Motors has unveiled the updated 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 calling the model “the most advanced and luxurious Sierra ever”. The automaker enhances technology integration, elevates exterior and interior design.
The exterior highlights revised headlamps, a new grille, and a lighting animation. The cabin features a new center console with better functionality including electronic precision shift, a new large 13.4-inch color touchscreen with Google built-in.
Also new is a digital configurable instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch diagonal and a 15-inch head-up display. The latter provides over 40 diagonal inches of digital display – the most in its class.
As for the engines, the manufacturer upgrades a high-output 2.7L Turbo and a 3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel. The first now delivers 420 lb-ft of torque (20% more), becomes less noisy and works smoother, and enables higher maximum trailering ratings of 9,600 lbs with 2WD vehicles and 9,300 lbs with 4WD ones. The 8-speed automatic transmission this engine is mated to has been also revised.
The 3.0-liter Duramax Turbo-Diesel engine with 277-hp and 460 lb-ft becomes more capable: now it allows a max towing capability of 13,200 lbs, 4,000 lbs more than before.
New Trims
The luxurious Sierra Denali Ultimate trim offers a unique design, premium materials, new technologies including a trailering-capable Super Cruise driver-assist system. A 6.2-liter 430-hp V8 engine comes as standard for this version.
The performance AT4X trim offers an exclusive upscale interior, excellent off-road, on-road, and trailering capabilities. It is available with the 2.7L Turbo engine, front and rear e-lockers, Multimatic DSSV dampers, Terrain Mode with one-pedal crawling.
Pricing, Sales
The 2022 GMC Sierra will be available at dealer showrooms in the 1st quarter of next year. Order books have already opened.

- AT4 – $60,995

- Denali Ultimate – $80,395
GM will announce the full pricing closer to the start of production.
