Last week, General Motors unveiled the resurrected Hummer in all-electric flavor.
It will initially appear as a pickup truck, and later as a sport utility vehicle.
The 2022 GMC Hummer EV will arrive as an all-new model in the brand’s lineup.
The standard equipment includes removable roof panels (Infinity Roof), a six-function MultiPro Tailgate; UltraVision front and rear underbody cameras, 35-inch tires; GM’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driver-assist system.
An adjustable air suspension is available as an option. The Hummer EV got a unique function – a CrabWalk Mode. It allows for diagonal driving on challenging terrain.
Specific steel plates around a battery pack provide protection in extreme off-roading.
At launch, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV comes with three electric motors. They produce 1000 hp and inconceivable claimed 11,500 lb-ft torque (between 1000 and 1100 lb-ft in reality according to insiders).
All-wheel drive is standard. Thanks to a Watts to Freedom launch control driving mode, the truck accelerates from o to 60 mph in just 3.0 seconds.
Production, Sales, Prices
The automaker plans to build the model at the Factory Zero facility in Detroit.
The first to reach dealerships will be the most expensive GMC Hummer Edition 1 with the Super Cruise, a power-operated tonneau cover, an enormous 13.4-inch infotainment screen.
It arrives next fall, followed then by three progressively cheaper configurations, which will go on sale from the fall of 2022 through the spring of 2024.
