Сontrary to expectations, the updated 2022 Genesis G70 sedan won’t get a new base 2.5-liter inline-four, but comes with the same engines as before.
A base turbo 2.0-liter inline-four with 252-255 hp in pair with an 8-speed AT and an optional twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 with 368 hp (+3 hp to standard 365 hp) carry over to the 2022 G70 Facelift.
A 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine is also available. All models got a “Sports+” drive mode to optimize engine and transmission programming.
In addition, the 3.3-liter V6 with a Sports package benefits from a Variable Exhaust Valve System and a new Dynamic AWD System.
Genesis does not offer a 6-speed manual transmission for the 2022 model year. Rear-wheel drive is standard. All-wheel-drive is an option.
The new G70’s exterior represents the latest iteration of the brand’s “Athletic Elegance” design language, also seen on the all-new G80 sedan and the GV80 SUV.
Besides, the 2022 Genesis G70 incorporates the brand’s newest safety and driver assistance technologies.
The exterior features Genesis’s signature Quad Lamps with very thin LED lamps, a low-slung Crest Grille, all-new wheel designs; the Parabolic Line adding an elegant touch over the muscular surfaces; a prominent Genesis text at the rear, dual exhaust tips, a body-colored diffuser.
The company offers 14 exterior color choices, including two new metallic options (Sedona Brown, Tasman Blue) and three matte finishes – Verbier White, Melbourne Grey, Bond Silver.
In the cabin, the new Genesis G70’s driver-focused cockpit benefits from a number of upgrades, such as a bigger, wide-view 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen with both a Genesis-exclusive user interface and over-the-air navigation updates.
The instrument cluster is also enlarged for better readability. A wireless smartphone charger provides improved charging speed. Windshield and front door acoustic glass enhances interior quietness.
The new Genesis G70 will go on sale first in South Korea. In 2021, it will enter other markets, including the USA.
