The 2022 Ford Mustang – a refreshed variant of the current generation – is available to order now. Ford slates to start customer deliveries in the first quarter of next year. The GT and Mach 1 versions will come with reduced output.
Order banks have opened for the restyled 2022 Ford Mustang. 2022 is the last model year of the car’s current 6th generation: the next, 2023 Ford Mustang should be a new-generation model.
Three appearance packages are available for the 2022 Mustang: first-ever Stealth Edition, Ice White Edition, and California Special with a few cosmetic changes and an available GT Performance Package. In addition, the exterior color palette undergoes revision – several new paint options replace the old ones.
Some unexpected changes happen under the hood. Horsepower and torque figures of the GT and Mach 1 Mustangs are reduced by 10 regardless of transmission: from 460 to 450 hp on the Mustang GT, and from 480 to 470 hp on the Mustang Mach 1. Torque drops from 420 to 410 pound-feet on both. A possible reason for this reduction is emissions requirements.
The 2022 Ford Mustang will be arriving at U.S. dealer showrooms in the first quarter of 2022. We don’t know yet how the changes made by Ford will affect the new pricing. The current 2021 Mustang’s price is $27,205 for the base model, excluding fees, charges, taxes, options. The performance 2021 Ford Mustang Mach 1 starts at $53,400.
