2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Offers a New Option For Protection

New rocker guards come as a dealer-installed optional upgrade on the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 – first-ever, light-duty, off-road flagship.

The carmaker adds a new protective feature to the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2, according to GM Authority. This is about the rocker guards, which are an option only for the mentioned version.

Usually, rocker guards are aftermarket tubular entry steps preventing doors of other vehicles in parking lots from making a door ding in your vehicle. The ZR2’s rocker guards cannot be used as normal side steps or in combination with any of the side steps (tubular, round, or off-road assist ones) Chevy offers for the ZR2.

Other peculiarities of the Silverado ZR2 are front and rear e-lockers, a one-pedal rock crawling feature, DSSV Multimatic spool valve dampers. This variant offers a sole engine – the naturally aspirated 6.2-liter 8-cylinder L87 gasoline unit mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The powertrain delivers 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Production of the model takes place at General Motors’ plants in Mexico, Indiana, Canada. The starting price is $66,795 including the destination freight charge.
