General Motors will start taking orders for the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray on July 1. Production will begin at the Bowling Green Assembly plant in Kentucky late in the 3rd quarter of 2021.
This month, the carmaker closed its order books for the 2021 Corvette to open them again next month for the new-model-year car. Three new color options, engine upgrades, a new Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition will be available.
One more important news is a price rise. The 2022 Chevy C8 Corvette LT1 starts at $62,195, the convertible costs $69,695. $69,495 is the price for the 2LT coupe, and $74,145 – for the 3LT coupe. Prices include a destination charge. The price increase is $1,200 from the previous model year.
The special edition inspired by the No. 3 and No. 4 C8.R race cars will be available in a limited run of 1,000 units. This package starts at $6,595, it is based on the 3LT trim with the Z51 Performance Package. The car comes with a bespoke graphics package, in Accelerate Yellow or Hypersonic Gray colors, with black wheels, yellow brake calipers, a high-wing spoiler. Its interior matches the exterior design.
Moreover, the carmaker has upgraded the fuel injection system of the Corvette’s 6.2-liter V8 engine and improved its calibration, without changing power figures: they remain 490 hp or 495 hp with the performance exhaust, and 470 lb-ft.
