Porsche has unveiled the 2021 Targa 4 and 4S models of the 992-generation 911.
These open-top versions join the 911 Turbo S and Turbo S Cabriolet presented before.
The distinctive feature of the Targa’s exterior is a retractable roof of two flat magnesium elements with sound-deadening materials within the fabrics. There are many goodies inside and out, for example, a fixed full-width Targa roll bar behind the seats.
Under the hood, there is a twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six engine making 379 hp (331 lb-ft) in the Targa 4 and 443 hp (390 lb-ft) in the Targa 4S.
The mill comes standard with a PDK (Porsche Doppelkupplung) fast-shifting dual-clutch transmission, all-wheel-drive and Porsche Traction Management (PTM). A six-speed manual geabox is also available for the Porsche Targa 4S.
The Targa 4 with the PDK and the Sport Chrono package accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and achieves 179 mph. The Targa 4S does the same in 3.4 sec, and speeds up to 188 mph, Porsche claims.
Both models can already be ordered. Deliveries will start later this year. True, not everyone can afford a Porsche car for $120,650 (Targa 4) and $136,550 (Targa 4S).
