2021 Kia Sorento Spied On The Nürburgring
The next-generation Kia Sorento road tests are underway. It has been spotted on the Nürburgring race track, looking more stylish than the predecessor.
The 2021 Kia Sorento crossover is undergoing road tests. First spy shots from Germany show a regular prototype in camouflage during endurance testing.
How will it look?
In comparison with the current model, this new one has a sleeker greenhouse, thinner headlights, a more raked rear hatch, as well as a higher beltline making the vehicle more squared-off.
The interior is clearly not visible yet. We expect it’ll accommodate up-to-date features: a fresh dashboard with a large touchscreen, premium elements, a modern active safety pack.
We don’t know if the next Kia Sorento will have 5- and 7-seat layouts, it would be fine to have them both. In any case, the model should remain practical and spacious inside.
What is under skin?
The 2021 Sorento will likely share the platform and powertrains with the new Hyundai Santa Fe.
It is about a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter inline-4 and a turbocharged inline-4 with displacement of 2.0 liters, mated with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
Two drive variants will be available: with power transmitted to front wheels (FWD) as standard and an optional all-wheel drive.
Expect it on sale next year after the reveal in late 2019. The price won’t be too much different from the current model’s ($27,335 for a base SUV).
