Jeep has added a few new trim levels to the Gladiator lineup for the 2021 model year, including the most fuel efficient EcoDiesel variant.
The off-road-oriented packages the 2021 model receives are a Willys and an 80th Anniversary. The rest of the model’s lineup gets some changes too.
The Jeep Gladiator Willys offers black 17-inch wheels with mud-terrain tires, black exterior accents with Willys stickers, the Rubicon’s rock rails; a limited-slip differential, body-colored fender flares.
The Willys vehicles get the Technology and Convenience packages which bring, in particular, a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, a universal garage door opener.
The Jeep Gladiator 80th Anniversary comes with 18-inch wheels and all-terrain tires, an 8.4-inch infotainment setup, remote start; body-colored fender flares, gray exterior accents, specific badging.
Other trim levels get full-time four-wheel-drive with a two-speed transfer case (Selec-Trac with a 2.7:1 low-range gear ratio or Roc-Trac with 4.0:1); a forward-facing off-road camera TrailCam, LED headlights, and fog lamps.
Jeep also adds a diesel engine, a new one for 2021. The Gladiator EcoDiesel model has a 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine shared with the Jeep Wrangler.
The Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) rate shows it will be the most efficient Gladiator on sale. The EcoDiesel version delivers 24 mpg combined (22 mpg city and 28 mpg highway). It’s better by 25% than the pickup’s gasoline V6 A/T with its 17/22/19 mpg figures.

The Gladiator with a manual gearbox is rated for 16/23/19 mpg. The diesel-powered Gladiator Rubicon off-road trim has slightly lower fuel economy numbers.

2021 Jeep Gladiator EPA-Estimated Fuel Economy (city/highway/combined):
- Gladiator EcoDiesel: 22/28/24 mpg
- Gladiator EcoDiesel Rubicon: 21/27/24 mpg
- Gladiator Gas V6 A/T: 17/22/19 mpg
- Gladiator Gas V6 M/T: 16/23/19 mpg
The Gladiator EcoDiesel is already available to order. Deliveries have been scheduled for Q3 2020. Pricing is coming soon. Availability of the diesel option adds several thousand dollars to a price tag.
The current 2020 model costs between $33,545-43,875.
