Today, on March 30, the livestream premiere of the all-new Genesis G80 has taken place in a lifestream form.
The reveal event primarily targets the domestic South Korean market, where the model is launched first. The carmaker used the same exterior design with a “two-line” lighting theme for the G80 as in the GV80 before.
Inside, there is a borderline dashboard with a 14.5-inch infotainment system in the center, a heads-up display, a 12.3-inch cluster.
The 2021 Genesis G80 sits on a brand-exclusive, third-generation, rear-wheel drive platform with a design lowering the body and the center of gravity.
The newcomer features three powertrains:
- 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-four with 304 hp (PS), 422 Nm (311 lb-ft) torque
- 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 with 380 hp (PS), 530 Nm (391 lb-ft) torque
- Diesel 2.2-liter inline-four with 210 hp (PS), 441.5 Nm (326 lb-ft) torque
The new Genesis G80 is coming to rival the BMW 5 Series. It will enter the markets in the 2nd half of this year, starting with North America.
A larger Genesis GV90 is in the pipeline as well to compete with the BMW X7. The company also works on an electric SUV.
