Several spy shots appeared a week ago. They reveal the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Badlands undergoing validation tests.
As reported by Ford Authority, this is an off-road-oriented version of the upcoming model. Its distinctive features include steel wheels and rugged all-weather tires. They are made of crossover-specific Falken Wildpeak A/T rubber, have solid upper sidewalls, comprise durable two-ply polyester.
There is USTMA’s Severe Snow Rating stamp on the tires to appeal to customers who live in ice-and-snow climates.
The Bronco Sport Badlands has all-wheel drive. At the same time, it is said to be good on milder trails.
The new Ford Bronco Sport SUV comes with two turbo-gasoline engines – a base 1.5L EcoBoost I-3 and an optional 2.0 EcoBoost I-4 GTDI, both with Ford’s new 8-speed automatic transmission.
The model will be available with three different grille designs. Its suspension setup is the same as the 2020 Ford Escape’s.
At launch, buyers will be able to choose from five trim levels: base, Big Bend, Outer Banks, First Edition, and this one – Badlands.
In addition, a pickup modification, the Ford Maverick, will arrive approx. in a year and a half.
The Bronco Sport has already gone into production at Ford’s factory in Mexico. U.S. dealers will begin receiving the first cars in August-September 2020.
