Mitsubishi Motors Company has unveiled the 2020 Mitsubishi ASX compact SUV ahead of its official premiere at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in a month.
The Mitsubishi ASX (called the Mitsubishi RVR in Canada and Japan or the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport in the USA) is the third best-selling model of the brand. Within 10 years on the market MMC sold over 1.32 mln vehicles. The key markets are North America, Europe, Australia and China. The current car costs from $20,945 (U.S.) / €16,890 (Germany).
Now about the 2020 model year ASX. What is new?
Apart from exterior and interior updates, the vehicle got a new Outlander’s naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 150hp and 195Nm (144 lb-ft) of torque.
The exterior adopts the “Dynamic Shield” design language like the latest Outlander, Eclipse Cross, Shogun Sport. New features are a grille, skip plates, a front bumper, LED headlights.
The interior refreshes include the company’s newest Smartphone Link Display Audio, an 8-inch screen, TomTom navigation, real-time traffic updates, Mitsubishi’s latest infotainment system.
FWD and AWD options are available in combination with a 5-speed manual transmission or a variator (CVT). The latter is fitted with a 6-speed Sports Mode.
Specifications and pricing will be known later. The 2020 Mitsubishi ASX will probably go on sale early next year.
