On Monday, April 8, Mercedes unveiled its next model designed by hot AMG division – the 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA35 AMG with over 300 horsepower. It came to challenge to the 288-hp Audi S3, and we wonder, whether the model will be pricier than its rival from Audi costing from $45,500.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA35 AMG made its debut and enters the market this year. It got the brand’s 2.0-liter turbo-4 engine delivering 295 lb-ft of torque combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Acceleration to 60 mph takes 4.6 seconds.
The tweaks making this AMG version hotter than the standard CLA are a sports exhaust system, optional adaptive dampers, uprated brakes, AMG-badged calipers, beefier bumpers, a convex hood. The CLA35 AMG runs on 18-inch wheels (19-inch ones are available as an option).
Buyers will find synthetic leather and microfiber upholstery as standard in the cabin. Sports seats are offered too, as wells as sporty red seat belts. A wide 10.3-inch touchscreen of the infotainment system with voice control is familiar as it carried over from the regular CLA.
The list of optional features is long enough and includes navigation, Burmester audio system, gesture controls, adaptive cruise control, active lane assist, blind sport monitor, AMG Track Pack (displays lap and performance times and learns a user’s home track).
Expect the price between $45,000 and $50,000 when the 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA35 AMG arrives in the US car market in 2019. Its official public debut will take place very soon, at the 2019 New York International Auto Show (April 19-28).
