Mercedes-AMG has shown its all new CLA 45 sports coupe in an impressive video. We can see a car in a move on the race track and the road.
The 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 will output over 387 hp thanks to a potent engine and a unique all-wheel-drive system.
After numerous spy photos and teasers, now the exterior is revealed in full. So, motor enthusiasts can enjoy the car’s look themselves, when it is in motion.
As for the interior, it is a sportier variant of the CLA models (AMG steering wheel, aggressive seats, red belts and stitching, aluminum pedals, extra readouts on the dashboard, Track Pace option).
Under the hood
As reported, the model will offer 421 hp (310 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque as the S model or 387 hp (285 kW) and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) as the base car, thanks to a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter engine with a turbocharger.
The motor is mated with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive.
The top speed of basic models is electronically limited to 155 mph (250 km/h), this figure is 168 mph (270 km/h) for S models.
With the optional AMG Driver’s Package, the top speed can be increased to 168 mph for the basic cars. Acceleration to 62 mph (100 km/h) takes just 3.9-4.1 seconds depending of a drivetrain.
The unique all-wheel drive system of the CLA 45 AMG uses two clutches for each rear axle to control torque vectoring. It can vary the amount of torque directed to the front or rear and makes a Drift mode available.
Other distinctive features are a 4-link independent rear suspension, adjustable damping, McPherson struts, AMG braking system, more chassis bracing compares with less power models, 19-inch wheels with 235-mm tires, etc.
The 2020 Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 will enter the market by the end of 2019. Pricing is not announced yet.
