2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport: Efficiency Boost, Clean Engines, Personalization

The new Land Rover Discovery Sport utilizes the latest developments in fuel saving and eco-friendliness.

It carries a new Premium Transverse Architecture which accommodates a fuel-efficient 48-vold mild hybrid (MHEV) powertrain. A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) version will join the model’s lineup later.

Technical Improvements

Advanced Ingenium engines are certified to the latest emissions standards. Customers have a choice of 4-cylinder engines: three gasoline (petrol) and four diesel one, depending on the market.

A 250-hp gasoline engine mated with an automatic transmission and all-wheel drive delivers 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque and provides acceleration from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.1 seconds.

Upgraded ZF 9-speed gearbox improves fuel economy by 2% thanks to changes in the front bumper, engine and active air intake blades, which further improve aerodynamics.

For the first time, the optimized 21-inch Discovery Sport wheels are introduced.

Technologies and Packs

The Driveline Disconnect system is available on all four-wheel drive models. It disables the rear-wheel drive on the front axle when riding in a cruise control mode, reduces friction and increases fuel economy, and then re-enables in a split second for control.

The Active Driveline technology (dependent on engine power) is an electronic vector torque control system that constantly balances the distribution of engine torque between the front and rear axles when cornering to improve traction and steering reliability.

Several multifunctional packs are offered to customers.

The ‘Driver Assist’ pack comes with Land Rover’s Co-Pilot Drive and 360-degree Surround Camera, alongside Blind Spot Assist, High Speed Emergency Braking, Park Assist, 360-degree Parking Aid, Rear Traffic Monitor and Clear Exit Monitor.

This pack can be divided into more focused ‘Drive’ pack, which adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, High Speed Emergency Braking and Blind Spot Assist; or the ‘Park’ pack, which comes with Park Assist, 360-degree Parking Aid, Rear Traffic Monitor and Clear Exit Detection.

Prices

Manufacture suggested retail price is $37,800 – $52,800 (U.S), €37,050-€39,350 (Germany).
