The 2020 Honda Civic Type R is making its American debut at this-year Chicago Auto Show (Feb 8-17).
Honda refreshed the Civic Type R for 2020. According to the automaker’s press release, the updates include revised suspension, improved braking efficiency, engine cooling, handling, driving dynamics.
It has got the standard Honda Sensing safety and driver assistance suite, as well as modernized exterior and interior, in particular a fresh grille, a new shifter, Alcantara wrapping of the steering wheel.
At Chicago, the model appears in public in new Boost Blue exterior color for the first time. The Active Sound Control is also new for 2020.
The powertrain comprises a race-bred 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that delivers 306 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm). It transfers power to the front wheels through a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox.
The 2020 Honda Civic takes the 4th place in its category of the U.S. News & World Report’s ranking. It is a finalist for the 2020 Best Compact Car for the Money award. The pricing varies between $19,750-$28,850.
Sales of the 2020 Honda Civic Type R will start later this winter. All the details, specs, price will be unveiled closer to the market launch.
