General Motors has announced prices for the Chevrolet Silverado HD of the 2020 model year. The base price for the pickup truck starts from $35,695 and is lower than its predecessor’s.
The standard Silverado HD 2500 with an extended wheelbase and a conventional cab will cost from $35,695. The same configuration for the 3500 version is more expensive – from $36,895. These prices are cheaper than those of the outgoing models. Anyway, order books are already opening.
The new 2020 Chevy Silverado HD was officially unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show in early 2019. The newcomer features an outstanding towing capacity of 35,500 pounds (16,102 kg), 50% more than before.
These figures are achievable thanks to a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbocharged diesel engine. It produces 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft (1,234 Nm) of torque. The unit is combined with a new Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
The automaker claims that every component between the transmission and the wheels has been upgraded for larger traction. The gasoline V8’s torque increased by 18% (464 lb-ft / 629 Nm now), as well as its power (401 hp).
