The BMW 1 Series has undergone a change of generations. There are many new features, the front-wheel drive is just one of them…

Sporty, cool, safe and stylish, with a fresh design and the latest in connectivity: this is how BMW characterizes the all-new 1 Series hatchback.

The third-generation BMW 1 Series will be unveiled to the public for the first time on 25 – 27 June 2019 on the new BMW Group #NEXTGen presentation platform at BMW Welt in Munich.

In September 2019, the world premiere will be held at the IAA in Frankfurt.

Front-wheel drive and dimensions

BMW has been producing cars with front-wheel drive for 5 years, and during this time the company’s engineers have gained considerable experience. The model of the third generation offers much more space in the cabin than its predecessor, thanks to the front-wheel architecture.

Available only in the five-door version, the new BMW 1 Series is 5 mm shorter. The length is 4,319 mm. As for the width (now 1799 mm), it has increased by 34 mm, and the height (1434 mm) – by 13 mm. At the same time, the wheelbase has grown by 20 mm (2,670 mm) compared to the second generation model. However, the interior of the new hatch is more spacious!

The luggage compartment is 380 liters – 20 liters more than in the outgoing car, and folding the rear sofa enlarges it to 1,200 liters.

The sports flagship BMW M135i xDrive has the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission.
