10 Most Awkward Cars For Eccentrics

We’ve picked out the 10 most awkward cars which look quite atypical in our opinion and may not appeal to everyone.

Of course, we do not urge taking this TOP 10 seriously, since the concepts of “awkward” or “beautiful” are relative. What one dislikes, others do like. And yet, these cars are rather odd-looking…for us.

Pontiac Aztek

This is a midsize 5-door crossover made by General Motors from 2000 to 2005 and marketed as a “sport recreational vehicle”.

Smart ForTwo

It looks like a car for those who are short of money to buy a normal-size vehicle. Daimler’s rear-wheel drive 2-seater hatchback has been produced since 1997. It has three generations.

Chevrolet SSR

This is a convertible pickup truck, quite cute in its own way, powered by a 5.3-liter 300-hp Vortec 5300 V8 engine. Chevrolet built the model from 2003 to 2006. ‘SSR’ is an abbreviation of ‘Super Sport Roadster’.

Chrysler PT Cruiser

Chrysler built the car invoking 1930s aesthetics for a decade: between 2000 and 2010. A 5-door hatchback was launched in 2000, and in 2005 a 2-door convertible joined. It was Bryan Nesbitt who designed the model.

Hummer H2

A full-size off-road SUV of General Motors produced at a purpose-built plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, between 2002 and 2009. A pickup version – Hummer H2 SUT – was made in 2005-2009 too.

Aston Martin Cygnet

This model is a curious episode in the history of the brand. Aston Martin introduced the Cygnet to reduce the average value of carbon dioxide emissions across the lineup. It was in production from 2011 to 2013.

Simply put, the hatchback was a counterpart of a 3-door Toyota iQ with a standard 1.3-liter 98-hp engine.

Mercedes Maybach G650 Landaulet

A limited-run vehicle (only 99 examples) with an open rear went on sale in the fall of 2017. It belonged to the AMG G 63 6×6 and G 500 4×4² series of special edition cars.

REVAi / G-Viz

An electric 3-door microcar for 2 adults and 2 children was produced by an Indian manufacturer from 2001 to 2012 and was on sale in 26 markets. The letter “i” means ‘improved’.

By the end of 2013, 4600 units were sold worldwide, mostly in India. For several years, a British version of the G-Viz was quite popular, especially among Londoners.

Subaru Baja

This four-wheel-drive, four-door, four-passenger ute was in production from 2002 to 2006. The model combines the handling and passenger carrying of a traditional passenger car with the open-bed versatility and load capacity of a pickup truck.

Nissan Juke

Сompared to others mentioned here, this one seems boring and least eccentric. The modern subcompact crossover is fun to drive and well-packed with features but still, – looks like a bloated frog. Nissan produces the vehicle in the UK and Japan. The second-gen model was launched in 2019.
