World Car of the Year 2019: Only Three Contenders Left
By tradition, the Best Car of the Year will be called at the 2019 New York International Auto Show in April. There are three contenders now.
The annual World Car Awards competition sums up at one of the largest car shows in the world – the New York Auto Show. Soon, in April, we’ll know the name of the model awarded as the 2019 World Car of the Year by the jury which comprises 86 journalists.
Three challengers left now: the Audi e-tron (pictured above) and Jaguar I-Pace EVs, as well as the latest generation Volvo S60 (both a sedan and a V60 wagon).
The Audi e-tron and the Jaguar I-Pace are all-new developments bringing an electric vehicle to a higher level. Both crossovers are not inferior to analogs with internal combustion engines.
As for the new Volvo S60, it is produced in the USA and has all chances to become the leader in the premium mid-size segment.
World Car Awards include separate categories too. The hydrogen Hyundai Nexo pretends to win in the Best Green Car category, the Kia Soul and the Suzuki Jimny compete for the title of the Best Urban SUV. The Volvo XC40 can receive a design award.
