Volvo XC40 Won The 2018 Women’s World Car Of The Year
The Volvo XC40 has become the Supreme Winner of the 2018 Women’s World Car of the Year. It is the only contest with a jury represented by exclusively female journalists.
This year the jury consisted of 34 journalists from 27 countries. The criteria for choice are safety, price/quality ratio, aesthetic look, convenience of luggage placement, comfort for travel with children, ease-to-drive, environmental friendliness, available colors, etc.
In the final round the XC40 outpaced its competitors and won the main prize. So, the jury selected the model after two rounds of voting. Six nominees which passed the first stage of selection (in alphabetical order) are: BMW X2, Jaguar E-PACE, Peugeot 508, Porsche Cayenne, Volvo XC40
Then, in the second round, the Volvo XC40 became the favorite among three finalists. The other two are the Jaguars – E-PACE and I-PACE.
The Volvo XC40 is a luxurious compact crossover. Designer Thomas Ingenlath is its developer. The carmaker presented the model in September 2017.
Since its introduction on the market, the Volvo XC40 has won a number of awards. Among them there is the 2018 European Car of the Year held at the Geneva Motor Show.
