Unique Porsche Project Gold Auctioned Off For €2,743,500

Not-for-profit Ferry Porsche Foundation received €2.7 million. It is the amount for the auctioned off Porsche Project Gold. The basis for this car is the Porsche 911 Turbo S (993).

In 2018, Porsche celebrates its 70th anniversary. On the occasion of this jubilee the company released the Project Gold.  It is an exclusive 911 Turbo S (993)-based sports car, which joines to the Turbo S Exclusive Series shown before.

The unique car has been sold at the “RM Sotheby’s – The Porsche 70th Anniversary Auction 2018” event hold in the Porsche Experience Centre Atlanta (USA). It took 37 bids and just 10 minutes for the sale.

The winner has become a person offering €2,743,500 (or about $ 3.12 million). All proceeds from the sale of the exclusive model will be sent to the Ferry Porsche Foundation.

The Porsche Classic division took 1,5 years to build a car that was fully restored and received a turbocharged 3.6-liter six-cylinder 450-hp air-cooled boxer motor.

Full drive and manual gearbox are new. For the formal continuation of the 993 lineup, the unique Porsche Project Gold got a VIN number following the latest series 993 Turbo.The German carmaker produced the latter 20 years ago.

The coupe is not certified for public roads due to non-compliance with modern standards for emissions and noise level. The Project Gold can be used only on race tracks during private track days.
