Skoda Revealed Details About Its New Scala Hatchback
Skoda has published the photos of the new five-door Skoda Scala hatchback during testing and revealed the first details about this model.
According to the press service of the Czech brand, one diesel engine and three petrol ones from 90-150 hp will be included in the car engine line-up.
The 1.0- and 1.5- liter petrol motors will work in pair with a five-speed or six-speed manual transmission. Customers will be offered an optional seven-speed automatic double-clutch gearbox. The six-speed manual or automatic transmission is provided for a 1.6-liter diesel.
The car will be built on the A0 MQB platform shared with other compact and mid-size models from the new Volkswagen Polo to the Skoda Kodiaq crossover.
The length is 4,362 mm, the width is 1,793 mm, the wheelbase is 2,649 mm. The trunk is 467 liters (1,410 l with the rear seats folded).
The exterior is the Skoda Vision RS-styled. The hatchback’s equipment includes a fully digital Virtual Cockpit dashboard, a multimedia system supporting MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay, as well as a 9.2-inch screen.
The software will be updated through the cloud service. The new model will also receive digital keys to open the car using a smartphone.
Skoda promises to present the Scala in the first half of next year. In the Skoda model range it will be a replacement for the Rapid.
The public debut takes place at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March. Pricing will be announced later. The Skoda Rapid, for instance, now costs from €16.550,00 in Germany. It is on sale in Europe, India, Russia.
