New Toyota Supra Went On Race Track
The long-awaited new-generation Toyota Supra sports coupe finally reached the race track. Toyota Gazoo Racing has published a video on which, if much trying, you can see the car riding in the light of headlamps.
Toyota already announced the premiere date – it’ll happen on January 14 at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. Meanwhile, the carmaker has introduced one more teaser of the model.
In the black-and-white video a racetrack is shown from a bird’s-eye view, with a car on it. The teaser is accompanied with a phrase hinting at the Fuji Speedway circuit, “Engine sound echoing on the circuit at the foot of Mt. Fuji.”
The new teaser does not reveal any information about the design and technical details, but the previous spy shots suggest that the new Supra will inherit the features of the FT-1 and FT-HS concept cars.
Under the hood we expect a lineup of engines from the new BMW Z4: 3.0- and 2.0-liter turbocharged ones as standard combined only with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Toyota is considering the possibility to create a sports GRMN version, as well as a convertible. Well, and besides, the revived Supra will participate in various racing series in both Japan and the USA.
