New Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake Went To Tests
Mercedes-Benz has started to test the new second-generation CLA Shooting Brake even before the new CLA series sedan is unveiled.
It was talked Mercedes-Benz would not launch the new generation of the compact wagon and produce only the sedan. But spy shots break rumors. The carmaker has brought the model to road tests and is preparing it for the debut in 2019.
The car is camouflaged, of course. Only a panoramic roof, chrome door handles, side rear view mirrors on the door panels (not on the racks as before), the rear bumper‘s lower part are visible.
Judging by the glazing, the cabin will be roomier. The tailgate is wider at the rear, which will facilitate loading and unloading. The rear lights partially turn the door: it does not limit opening, and makes the car visually wider.
The new vehicle will likely inherit engines, transmissions and equipment from the new A-Class hatchback and sedan. So we can expect a high-tech interior with dual 10.25-inch digital displays on the dashboard.
There will be AMG versions as well – the CLA 45 Shooting Brake and a less powerful CLA 35 Shooting Brake by analogy with the A35.
The Mercedes-Benz CLA sedan will premiere first in 2019. Later the Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake will be released. If the first model is a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan, the wagon is a unique model of its kind without direct rivals in the lineup.
