Mercedes-Benz GLS Prepares For Debut In New York: Fresh Shots
The Mercedes-Benz GLS is being prepared to debut at the New York Auto Show, which will be held to the public from April 19 to April 28, 2019. On the eve of this event, fresh shots of the vehicle with almost no masking have appeared.
Headlamps, taillights and a small part in front are still camouflaged. The new generation car is more technologically advanced. Although some may lack the proportions of the previous GLS.
The SUV is built on a new Modular High Architecture (MHA), which it shares with the GLE. This platform enables to use a 48-volt hybrid system, EQ Boost and E-Active Body Control suspension.
The new model has a 60 mm larger wheelbase, and this frees up legroom for passengers and adds convenience to the cabin.
In New York, the GLS 450 debuts with a 6-cylinder turbocharged engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission, already met on the Mercedes-Benz GLE. Some diesel options will be offered for Europe.
We expect one or a couple of motors with displacement of 2.0 liters, as well as a modification with a 560-hp V8.
Eventually, plug-in hybrid versions will arrive. Interestingly, which engines the GLS63 AMG high-performance version will receive.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS has been already confirmed, priced at $200,000. It is a rival to the Bentley Bentayga. The maker will produce this model at the plant in Alabama (USA).
